I Love Music

Saturday, 30 March 2013

Does anyone else adore music? Just thought I'd randomly write a deep and meaningful post. Sometimes, on down days, I'll flick on a song and it'll turn my mood upside down. Well actually, downside up. Music is a wonderful thing, and I don't know what I'd do without it! It inspires, relaxes, excites, and so many other emotions can be created with music. It's a gift from above. I believe that whether or not you play an instrument, anyone can enjoy music. From Beethoven to Taylor Swift, it comes in every form. I love music! (I know that sounded like what an excited little 3-year-old would say, but it's true!) c:x

Microwave Brownie (from my heart to yours)

Thursday, 28 March 2013

Mmmmm...is your tummy rumbling in need of a chocolate fix? I know mine is! Whenever emergencies like this come to call, I make this microwave brownie that takes about 9.54 minutes in total (just kidding - it takes about 10 minutes). So tighten your apron and get your tastebuds ready for this insanely good treat :)

This recipe serves 5-6
Here's what you need:
1 cup sugar
1/2 butter (113g)
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup flour
1/2 chocolate chips (this is optional - my excuse for it is if you're gonna eat brownie, you may as well eat it with all the chocolate chips too! Not a very good excuse but oh well ;)

Cream the butter and sugar together. Then add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Next add the flour and cocoa (and chocolate chips) to the mixture. Mix well.
Next scoop mixture into a microwavable dish, and microwave on high for 4 1/2 - 5 minutes. Let cool before you enjoy!

Happy weekend everybody x

Glitter

G.L.I.T.T.E.R. I've used it for so many things, some of which I've blogged about (think sunglasses, ring). I got these jars of glitter all for $2 in total, I just can't get over how cute they are :) So, it's kinda random, but don't be afraid to go crazy and glitter something...and although you may end up with a few sparkles here there and everywhere, trust me it's worth it.

Have a great weekend x

Fairy Cupcakes

Wednesday, 27 March 2013

Nothing like biting into a freshly baked cupcake with creamy frosting, is there? (Frosting. Sounds so much better than icing, doesn't it? :0) Lots of people like decorating cupcakes elegantly - don't get me wrong, I do too, but sometimes I just can't resist the temptation to sprinkle hundreds and thousands all over these pink cased sweethearts. And they're not hard at all to make either! I got this recipe from Nigella Lawson's cookbook "How to be a Domestic Goddess".

You need:
125g unsalted butter, softened
125g caster sugar (or normal - they still taste good!)
2 large eggs
125g self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons milk
*For the frosting I just make either butter or icing sugar mixtures

Preheat the oven to 200oC/gas mark 6
Just put all the ingredients except for the milk in the processor and then blitz till smooth. Pulse while adding milk down the funnel, to make for a soft, dropping consistency. It looks as though you'll never make this scant mixture fit 12 bun cases, but you will, so just spoon and scrape the mixture to fit each case equally. Put in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they're cooked and golden on the top. Ice when cooled and enjoy!

Hope you're all having a great week x
